Presentation of Tuscany's conference market at BTC

Data : 21 June 2010

Figures and trends relating to the Tuscan conference market, the Region’s strategies to promote the industry and the new desktop application Toscana for Events will all be explored, with Regional Councillor for Tourism Cristina Scaletti leading the debate.

The Region of Tuscany and Toscana Promozione will present the most significant data and trends relating to its meetings market at the presentation Toscana for Events, scheduled for 13.00 on 2 July at BTC, the Italian trade show for the meetings industry to be held next week at Fiera di Rimini.

According to the latest data of the Italian conference market survey Osservatorio Congressuale Italiano*, in the first half of 2009 Tuscany was one of the Italian regions least affected by the economic downturn in terms of attendance figures: Florence was Italy’s best-performing city by number of meetings hosted, delegates and days of attendance.

The presentation will be held by Regional Councillor for Tourism Cristina Scaletti, Key Account Manager for Tourism of Toscana Promozione Giovanni Calì and Director of the Florence Centre of Tourism Studies Alessandro Tortelli, who will talk about figures, trends and promotion strategies.

BTC will also provide the stage for the presentation of the new desktop application Toscana for Events, which is based on a survey of the region’s facilities by the regional government: this web-based tool, with an integrated search engine, updates automatically and contains a detailed database of conference hotels and venues for events in Tuscany.

The application, tailored for corporate and agency event organisers, will be distributed during the presentation.

*The Italian conference market survey Osservatorio Congressuale Italiano is sponsored by magazine Meeting e Congressi and Riviera di Rimini Convention Bureau.
